Hey Steve, hahaha nah didnt do as good as last time in regards to as many BIG Tailor so many were throwing the lures right on the shore line. Didnt matter what type of lure they just seemed to not be attacking them as viciously as last time. Nah no Dhui's this time ;P checked out where i got the other one but the swell was up and just looked to difficult to fish so didnt try there.
Yeah in the background in this location the Tailor are actually in holes within the reef flat so sometimes you only have to cast 10 or 20m. You do get some off the back of the reef but right on dawn they seem to be hiding in the holes waiting for the baitfish which have been hiding right up close to shore overnight to push back out. Most the holes are only around the size of a bedroom, and maybe about 1-2m deep. I have actually snorkelled out into some of the holes and seen the Tailor in them ready to ambush.
sounds like a great weekend with so many good fish taken. not a bad size reefy there either. what size were the mullas, im presuming soapy's. good signs for the future tho.
Cheers Faulks. Yeah all the Mullas were 30cm-60cm Soapie size. So a few legal sized ones, but didnt bother keeping any, let them all go to grow bigger. But yeah hopefully its a good sign for the future that so many little ones were around.
