Report 2/07/12

A mate flew in from over east on Sunday night and was too keen for a bash and with the weather looking alright it was on. We hit Woodies at 7 and plan was to head deep but the 15kn NE’ster didn’t want to back off till late arvo so we decided to just hit the Dhus. After we both dropped good fish we thought we were in for one of those days when i pulled a nice baldy.

The fish shut down with a few size but not big dhu’s and baldies coming over that we decided to release. As the wind dropped and the 2kn drift slowed down i switched to a pirate and before it hit the bottom i was on, called a Dhu from the second it hit and it fought more than any dhu ive ever hooked so knew it was big. A few tense runs later he popped up 50m away and my second meter plus dhu in under a month was brought onboard, It measured 1.04 but he was really skinny and much lighter than my last one.

The wind disappeared and made a few beers possible on the way home.

Thanks, Miles

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
