coral gardens - mindarie

hey fellas,

we went for a dive today off mindarie.  I believe we were diving the area known as "coral gardens" off the back of the three mile.  We were pretty amazed by the ground.  Although it was close to the three mile it appeared to be a totally different type of ground with heaps of rocky limestone drop offs, plate coral and alot more sea life.

Do any of you guys dive this area much?  Is is any good in the cray season?  It seems like ideal cray ground - especially when they are all loaded up on the back of the three mile as the next stop on their walk out would be this match off reef...

We only dived the east side of it today so we plan to dive the west side next trip and hopefully load up the GPS:)

cheers

Wayne

yeah dave - plenty of fish live.  we weren't down for long as it was bout 23-24m, however i did manage to spear a flathead before heading up.

We plan to dive the west side, then travel north and south along the back ledge to suss out the length and width of the reef.  On the sounder it doesn't seem that wide... 50m or so....?

Coral gardens

I have dived that area a fair bit better ground south of coral gardens.About 50 meters south it is called wearners wall and there is better ground south of that.. When the crays are in it is a good spot cause they are easy to pick off do get the odd dhuie and baldie but it has been hammered fish wise.
