Could be a shit season for whites and tuna
Submitted by till on Fri, 2011-11-25 16:30
Couldn't find any whites, didn't get around to trolling for tuna, but then they didn't just jump in the boat either.
All Alfred and I got for our efforts were these.
PS: measured the small one, he was just 85mm.

Dude, such a long list of recipes to get thru now the season is open.
Got a few the other day, just nothing really pic-worthy.
I think they look really dark just because the boat was really white and it was super-sunny.

The whites will come
Stop me if im wrong but the so called "whites" that you are all eagerly waiting for are just reds that have shed their shell. Got a feed with Alfred the other day (conditions were awesome) and every one i prepared for the dinner table were ready to shed at any moment. Im sure a few of you have noticed this already. anyways nice haul boys for a single tank dive gotta be happy...they all taste the same once you chuck em on the barbie with some garlic butter

How many Jumbo whites have
How many Jumbo whites have you seen ,not big whites but jumbos, and those big tar spot females how many of them ..I did 30 years pro cray fishing and never seen one .They two shed there shells .March reds run all the soft reds in the March molt are all red not white.white crays ,coral crays, and reds are all different .I have seen white crays in a tank four years and never turned red .they do get a pinkish colour to them but never that deep red.

Interesting you say
Interesting you say that...
I'd guess that the ones in the tank didn't colour up because of diet.
One of the bad boys on deck though, he was red and soft, so maybe only little ones loose all their colour.

Coltstriker: we're just just
Coltstriker: we're just just kidding about the tuna, we never even got a line in ;)
Bones: thinking one of these might have to go to yum cha with me this morning sometime!
Seaquest: the size was good. We threw a legal one back because it just looked so crap with the others, and we had plenty already. I was pretty jealous when I saw the tuna on a pintail, I have exams next week then probably good for a session down there!
