CPBA Membership
Went to the AGM last night and it was stated that there are..... 60 Vacancies .... for full membership, so if people are interested in joing the Cockburn Power Boats Club, the office hours are Tuesday through to 1.00pm on Saturday (side gate is open in these hours,) or ring the Club Manager Hazel on 94185868, you can download the admission forms on the club web site, cockburnpowerboats.com and follow the links on the left hand side under home (under downloads). The Committee meets every month on the second Tuesday and if you are quick you can have your forms in and be passed at next months meeting.
Sunday the Bar is open between 2.00pm through to 7.00pm, so if you need two signatures from full members to nominate, you'll get your signatures, and have a beer/wine/soft drink, while getting to know future members.
Our bosun Tony is a very helpful fellow, and will direct you in the right direction. He must be good as he's just bought a good second hand boat and its a Seeker (just like ours ha ha )
The new floating jetties should be operational by the end of September, can't wait to use them.
Good luck

I'm interested...
just trying to work out the fees though...
from what I read after you pay the $320 nomination fee there's a separate membership fee - but the value of that isn't on the website - can you tell me how much it is roberta?

Yes Ben
you pay the nomination fee, then its, depending when you put form in, say you put form in today, the committee meets, second Tuesday of each month, your past, then Hazel rings you up and then you pay the 12 months club fee, so you could have 3 weeks plus to save up for club annual fee of $320, but please feel free to ring Hazel Tuesday.

$320
Hi Ben,
$320 membership fee and a once off $320 nomination fee..
Not sure, but you might find the membership fee might be pro rated, as the new membership year commenced July 1.

CPBA Membership
Yes we were at the AGM on Friday night and heard about the vacancies. From what I understand there is usually a waiting list.
When we looked at the fees hubby felt they were very reasonable considering that if we parked at the public ramp next door and had our car tyres or windows smashed that would be more costly than the yearly fee at CPBA without even counting the inconveniance of having to repair damaged car or trailer.
What we did not expect by joining the club was how many really helpful friendly people we would meet at the club. There are always club events and oppertunities to meet other members and get involved. We have been members for just over 18mths now and we are really glad we joined.
If you are interested look up the website, check out the members forum and the club photo albums and give the Club Manager Hazel Duggan a call.

Hi Bluebone
yes this is the first time in nearly 15yrs I've been married to old fart that we have actually had vacancies. The club had at June this year had over a 100 people waiting to join, so all these lucky people are in and can't wait to use the new floating jetties, like you and me yahoooo, they should be up and running at the end of September.

Shorty I think because
you are launching a kayak think you'll have to have full membership, as we have members that have only jetski's and they are full members. Best think to do is to ring the Club Manager Hazel on Tuesday after 8.30am.
The only other thing is in the constitution it states powerboats, we have yachts as well.
The other thing even though you don't have boat trailer, park car (no vandals), you have the full use of the club, security (Bosun), hire of the club for private function, bbq's (free) bar open on Sundays with very reasonable priced drinks (due to volunteer bar staff) Shorty just a few things to consider, but please feel free to ring Hazel for further information.

Might be worth a call
Might be worth a call to Hazel and something that CPBA could possibly look at (would have to be passed at an AGM tho) is a reduced annual fee for kayak members.. (nomination should stay the same)
After all your probably not going to be using wash down facilities and the ramps, only taking up half the parking space....
Sure it was and still is aimed at powerboat memberships, but times change - and after all $$'s are $$'s
But either way.... (after the initial nomination fee) the annual membership fee is good money well spent IMO - no dickheads, no hassels, security of your vehicle while your out on the water, great facilities...etc...etc...

Also the area behind the Blue Shed
is to be opened up with light business to do with Marine, possibly could be boat stackers, marine repairers, boat builders, the government has asked for expressions of interest for the area.
Kaney68 .... could be a good think to look at via the constitiuon, think things like that are passed in the half yearly AGM around March and if anybody is interested could look at writing a letter to the committee to consider for 2010 half yearly, just a suggestion, I can't do it as I'm associate member of a full member, old fart is the full member, I can be if I want to pay the full membership, but look at it this way I'd be taking up a space for a future member coming in with a boat, which means I can't vote at the AGM or half yearly AGM, only full members can, we can have our say though, which I have on occasions he he he, stirred them up, naughty me.
