Craft beers

Am interested to see if any of you guys get into the craft beers. Tell us what you have tried and what you like. The new moon dog jumping the shark at 15.4% is pretty lethal and I like thier lando kardashion and wet nurse tonic also. Nogne 100's are good at 9% and the rigor mortis beer is probably my favourite. Narwhals ( 10% ) and hoptimums ( 10%) also are good regulars. Just heaps better than normal beers in my opinion. Who's drinking what?

I know I will cop flack for this
But been hooked on the VB stubbies for the last 6 months or so.
they changed back to the original brew and alcohol content thanks to a scathing letter from a loyal VB drinker ( that can be found online)
since then their sales for vb have gone through the roof and many an old Parton is now happy again

Bigfoot by Sierra Nevada is
Bigfoot by Sierra Nevada is pretty hard work. Loads of everything, no dry hopping or late additions that give it a floral hit like the hoptimum, but a deep heavy bastard that whacks hard.
Sierra's Torpedo is lovely and doesnt kill you as early as the +10%ers
Best mega hopped IPA for me is Ballast Point IPA
I'm into partial grains brewing at the mo but next one will be full grain plus my usual loading of Cascade and Chinook hops at ferment.
Love it. I grew grapes commercially for 20 years plus had a little wine label. Thats finished now, but I'm finding the beers so much fun.

yes once you've had enough VB
yes once you've had enough VB over the years its easy turn to its little red cousin. Melbourne's just that bit more bitter and crisp in my opinion. gives me the sneezes though.

VB is dead set THE worst beer
VB is dead set THE worst beer I have ever had the displeasure of trying. Ever.
May as well piss in a bottle and chuck in some bread yeast and leave to ferment in the sun.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

140 stubbies a week is some
140 stubbies a week is some serious drinking.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

powerhouse brewerys
the were a couple of blokes that worked at Muja power station that set up a micro brewery just out of Collie , they brewed a good drop , but as with all good things they closed down unfortunately, personally I think they sold the coldest keg beer I have ever had , my mate has a freak fridge an old Westinghouse that gets the beers to the point of having flakes of ice in them with out freezing them solid , the only way to drink beer imo (tried to buy it of him but he wont sell it haha)

your right i am sorry to say
but that's how I like my beer , mate of mine Jason Hornhard (yes a real name and a fishing legend in the NW) used to say you know you have every thing perfect when your eating warm mud crab sangas washed down with icy beers and all of a sudden you are hit with an incredible erg to go to the dunny sick yes but I found it funny when he said it, he then dashed of to the dunny

I prefer the white/wheat
I prefer the white/wheat beers/hefe.
For these you can't beat any of the German stuff, Weihenstephan easily being the stand out. None of the German stuff is allowed to go past water + 4 ingredients by German law so you don't get any preservatives which give you the hangovers.
I've tried a few over here and found Bootleg Brewery to have the best Hefe, but it's not a patch on the above, having said that Raging Bull from bootleg is a decent dark beer, but it's strong as I've found out.
