Curious about the Leeman crayfishing situation please

Howdy folks
About 12 months ago I was living in Leeman and became friends with some of the crayfishermen and since leaving the lovely place things have gone down hill for the cray fishing industry, not just Leeman but all fishing zones . Can anyone please tell me if there are any crayfishermen still working / living in Leeman please? I have lost contact with with friends up there as I am now living in Perth.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi Bill - I was up there a couple of weeks back and there were a number of cray boats moored - so I would assume the answer is yes.
I'll be up there in a few weeks and I'll ask one of the locals about the current situation if I remember!

Yes there are about
6 boats (locals) still living in Leeman, maybe if you ring sea rescue, think they would be the ones to tell you who is there and who has gone. I know one crayfisherman that has sold their boats (leased their pots) and is working on the mine. But their names allude me at the moment. Or the crayfishingmans depot in Leeman, if they are in the country phone book maybe able to help you.
This is the number for the Leeman Post Office they might know 99531030
We will also be up there after Easter as Buschy says if I remember I'll ask, as have good friends on sea rescue and they usually know who comes in and out of Leeman.

I was actually a radio operator for the Sea Rescue in Leeman for some time with Geoff Thorpe, Rusty, Ray Lewis and Alex Mac, great bunch up there :)
Also played bowls for a little while too. I was only there around 12 months or so but my wife got us thrown out unfortunately. I will give Paul and Helen a ring at the Post Office sometime.

Hi Roberta. I hope you enjoyed your Easter up there. Just got back from Albany with some good friends and a great break away.
Yes they are a great bunch of people up there and I do miss them and miss Leeman a great deal too, I do hope to go back by myself one day soon to live but because of what happened I would be ashamed to step back in the town as I do not know what sort of reception I would get from the folks there.
Oh well, we'll see what the future holds eh.
