Good effort Sunshine 3am ..
Good effort Sunshine 3am .. too slack myself , we went out around 7ish seen a few boat groups inside the sound and also the other haunt between the islands . We bagged a random one but that was behind carnac . They’ll be all over the shop Sean at the moment preferably at the change of light .

Far better out wide.
Dhuies, snapper and KGW .....they were going off in 42 metres, bagged out easily .....like you headed out afte getting sick of people anchoring so close I could deros unweighted scalies into their boats easily.....he'll it was nice at3am. Had it all to myself not that it made any difference, I really should have taken a screen shot of the sounder, huge and numerous red blobs everywhere, real problem was absence of wind making precision anchoring impossible

Sitting on the D9 right now and havnt caught a thing ! Seen a boat inside us catch one about 4pm which would've been pretty close to the tide change.

If you think fishing is always catching fish then you must be one miserable mf!
Dont suppose sharing a beer or a bickie with a mate or family has any attraction to ya?

So we didn't do anything wrong
Thank god, I thought we had done something wrong last night by going out for them near Carnac instead of D9. Burleyed up big time and got the herring and pike in but nothing big. Smack on dark we got a run on the only rod with less then 10lb line. It lasted about 30 seconds before being busted off! We came back in about 9pm.

A couple of questions for chasing Snapper in the Cockburn sound
We are kind of new to fishing out of a boat in the ocean, so could someone answer a couple of questions about chasing snapper in the Cockburn sound?
I do a lot of bream fishing from kayak and boats, we generally hit a stretch of river we know they should be holed up in and if there is nothing biting we move on after 15-20 minutes. Do you use the same principle for snapper? If you have not landed anything in say a half hour should you move on?
When finding a spot to anchor in the sound if there is no big masses of fish should you scout around until one shows up? Ie last night we went where there were like a million other boats but did not get the big red blobs of schooled up fish just the occasional small red lines. We figured everyone else knew what they were doing and therefore in the right spot.
