DAMPIER ARCHIPELIGO - Huay, Angel Island options?
Submitted by Fishkraehe on Mon, 2010-02-22 07:02
Hi All, I plan to head out to the end of the Burrup shortly, around the islands (Hauy, Angel etc etc), can anyone pass on some advice on options out there? ie Reef, bommies, trolling? I plan to stick some photos on the site (if I do well)...4.5m side consul, so I think i'll be right? any advice would be greatly appreciated.....

Hauy action
Gday Fishkraehe, that side of the archipelago is definately better fishing than the 'main' group. Hauy gets some pretty good rips if the movement is above about 2.5 but fishing the slack produces good catches. All species of fish are well and truely within reach in that area with a boat your size. Try all areas in the beginning - from Withnel Bay right up to Delambre (east) or Cowen (west) you will be surprised what you will catch and where!
Good luck

Launch from Withnell
A boat that size launches easliy from withnell and cuts about 12klm off the boat ramp ,it can be very shallow around those islands so watch your tides but also very productive. There are some good creeks in the area that are also producing barra and threadies so remember these when the wind is blowing.
There are two types of people ,do'ers and watchers
Right now the do'ers are the doing it
And the watchers are watching us do it
