Dampier Fishing fun
With the westerlies forecast all weekend and even into Monday just had to go for a bash. Still not possible to go wide and certainly a day for the lea offered by islands. Still some fun to be had.
Moved to one of our favourite westerly leas and tucket in fairly close, but it was still blowing with the recorded gust of 28knots at Dampier on return.
We must be bloody mad.
Anyway I was targetting trout, and Gillian was just doing her usual thing. F$%#ng outfishing me. First over the size in a hectic bite, so no picture taken wide was this trout. At 60cm I think her PB but we are not stats fishers.
Next overboard whilst I caught a just size NW snapper was the first of her 3 goldens.
All released well but I had to hold the fish on a wobbly boat.
I did get into some fun but only ended up with a nice cod, but nothing else off note apart from a monster cuda that fortunately bit through the leader.
Hope you enjoy this Sunday Madness going out went all conditions are sh***te. Sometimes you just have to fish.
Gear Jill's secret weapon ( I sure some can tell but thats what she calls it) and mine a Stella 8000 SW on a Sumarai Jig 10 (awesome, especially when you have to get them up fast or you hook something big).
Cheers

You would be surprised
Yes it looks mint, but we were only about 20m from shore and she was blowing 20k plus and with neap currents mixed in with a chop it wasnt as mint as the pictures suggest.
8-10k crawl (or limp) home.

Pretty crappy weekend as a whole hey mate
Just had to get out when not working the weekend. This lea spot goes down fast and sometimes has some nice fish on it, so we thought why not. All we needed to do was get over Dampier straight with the westerly, and tuck into the leas of the Lewis's, but in the arvo she swang SW so had to head into it most off the way home.
Cheers Mate, and I can tell you those goldens, especially the last one made Gill work for it, especially when it warpped around the anchor robe. I got a hookup on the livie flaoter that had the Saltiga 20LD piss, and all I saw was a huge yellow looking shark, perhaps big lemon.

Cheers mate
Yes they must pull hard because Jill's arms are still aching (LOL). This time I only got to battle with lessor fish.
Hopefully this weekend is better, but just couldnt sit there and not fish. Bugger that. Was either go out or somewhere for some plump whiting from shore.
