Dawesville Cut
Submitted by TGMitchell on Mon, 2015-07-20 01:14
The boats in 'dry dock' and I am back to fishing off jetty.
Have been off the Dawesville Cut Jetty a couple of times and picking up plenty of herrings and a few tailor.
Wondering what else I should be after there. Anyone know?
Cheers

There are still salmon
There are still salmon catches around the mouth of the cut, suprisingly as it is very late in the season. I have caught the occasional whiting on bait in the cut but not recently unfortunately. Apart from that its blowies and trumpeter.

South side of cut
Throw a lightly weighted white bait or blue sardine right up against the bridge support directly under the bridge on the south side. There is a slight depression right up against the support and you quite often get a few skippy from there.
I have only had results there on an incoming tide early in the morning.
Good luck

Whiting under the Jolly Frog
Whiting under the Jolly Frog jetty. Cast out toward the incoming tide and let your blood worm go under the jetty. It is prime real estate though
