deck wash / livebait pump

hey all

having problems with my deckwash/livebait pump.

pump feeds to both , you just close tap on bait well and pressure then goes fully to deck wash

however , when using deck wash , it runs ok for a couple of minutes  before giving up and not working again for the rest of the day, no matter if you shut everything down and isolate battery's. it's shot for the day .

but next time you go out in the boat, hey presto , it's working again.

sick of it and just want to give it a drop kick into a bin and get something that works every time.

heard some bad things about johnson pumps so has anyone got any experiance with another pump they can recommend??? pref with a good warrantee.

(boat a 6 meter haines if that makes any diff and i'd rather something with plenty of pressure )

cheers

does it have an inline filter? if so, clean out the gunk.

if not, clear it out and add  a retic filter from total eden. That should stop all the crap comin in thru the intake.

Most deck washes

Have a limited "DUTY CYCLE" , even the Shurflo brand which are pretty dammed good...........need to look either for a separate live tank feeder pump or go for a top of the line deckwash.   The box containing the pump should tell you clearly what the duty cycle is - usually only 20 minutes or so
