Lol
Maybe they needed to see the 30 photos of Chrisfish's sharks over a month or two to realise its not an uncommon thing... Then the dozens of shark photos posted from up in Exxy off the beach, or the whole state, whole lot of hype feeding off the recent shark debates, guess thats print media though. Look at the hype we have on here, 3 threads going and all sorts of ranting and raving. Guess it got the desired results....

I'm guessing
there hasn't been a sighting/beach closure/attack or any other shark vs human interactions for 24hrs to keep the media bandwagon dribbling shit to the masses so they ran this

Agree
I agree, i was going to comment on the other threads but didn't want to add to the rant. Every one was happy to see pictures of big sharks caught down south, ( me included ) but get the media involved and OMG .
All i can say is great captures for the young guy's , i've never landed a shark that big from the shore.

And yet we still have very few attacks. The cull is only going to help the 'fear factor' media.

Doing well
Good stuff. Ya out there with ya mates having a blast. As long as ya don't burley up to much for them. Rob's jetty used to pump out a lot of blood and no attacks that I've heard of.
Old fishermen never die they just smell that way.

Memories
Brings back a fond memory twenty years ago of three mates in the back seat of my dads car with a smelly six foot bronzie on their lap for the 1 hour ride home after catching it off woody point.
Wasnt allowed to use his car after that, stank for months. Never took another shark home after that until now. Good times.
Well done lads. Wouldn't bring my kids there, a few pissed off sharks swimming around atm :)

Awesome sharks mate. Well done on the captures and releases.
Just always be wary of ANY media though. They are the real SHARKS to watch out for ;-)

we go fishing and stay out of
we go fishing and stay out of trouble
we spend our money on fishing gear not drugs and alcohol
we fight sharks in the ocean.. not people on the street
but every man and his dog still gives us a rant on how are doing everything wrong and ruining the enviroment and the world is going to end because of us

Stuff em
Well done with the C&R shark fishing, and comments above is a credit to yourself. Just ignore the ignoramous public when they comment. Afterall its fishing, and you are certainly doing no harm.
Cheers and enjoy

Nothing wrong with C & R of sharks, keep it up. Might pay to tell the media to get stuffed next time round though. Draw too much attention to what your up to & the next thing you know it will be illegal for some ridiculous reason.

Definitely be careful with
Definitely be careful with the media, here in SA we had a problem with media saying shark fishers were attracting bronzies to shore and endangering swimmers despite the fact I was doing this 30 years ago and many others have done so since with absolutely zero attacks (Journo tip 1 - don't let facts get into the way of an article).
Public ignorance/outcry resulted and now can only shark fish between 9pm - 5am, no burley at all and no wire and no hooks bigger than a 3/0. Go figure.
PS shark sightings have not reduced either and are still the same as before the rule change - DUH.
But otherwise well done!!
