Dhuey's

 G'Day all,

Took the boy (6 year old) and my dad out for a fish two weeks ago from Bouvard Marina. It was Kai's first time out on the ocean so was hoping I could get him into something decent to give him the "bug". Turns out the little smart arse out fished both me and his grandad for the fourth time in a row. He hooked and caught this 51cm Dhuie. Mission completed. I didn't hear the end of it for two weeks (dad don't tell me how to fish, dad I know what i'm doing i just caught a Dhuey and you didn't, dad I'm the best fisherman blah blah blah) so thought it was about time I put him back in his (tackle) box!!

So me and my Dad went out yesterday (without Kai). Conditions were awesome!! Once again launched from Bouvard Marina. Was twitching soft plastics most of the day with a baited rod in all the time, when the set bottom bouncer started bouncing around with something decent attached. Had fresh occy and a strip bait on a paternosta. Coulda sworn it'd woulda eaten the strip but ended up with the occy. The subsequent Dhuie ended up being 65cm and 5.5kg. Couldn't wait to show the boy and when I did, mine was uglier than his and he caught the prettiest tastiest fish....blah blah blah.

But in all seriousness was so glad his introduction to ocean fishing went off well and can't wait for future fishing adventures.

Nice fish, mate!

Given the size of your boat, I'm guessing you were fishing fairly shallow? And did you get anything on the softies? I've had one or two cracks at the Bouvard reef system, using only soft plastics, and only have one leatherjacket to show for it!

Great result for the young bloke as well...you've been able to get him onto some nice fish at a very early age and he'll be hooked for a long time, maybe for life, even!

Top work on getting Kai onto some good fish for a young fella.  Jane says hello, merry christmas and happy new years to yourself and Renae.

Have to catch up for a fish down in mandurah soon I reckon, while Jane gets to catch up with Renae:D
