Did anyone see on news tonight something about a shark? I just caught the end of it and it said something about them chasing it away with a spear or something, anyone know the full story?

yep
a great white menacing a smallish boat off Glenelg (?) in South Australia. The guy had mobile footage and 'menacing' was certainly the right word.

Somthing too think of
As we know,South Australia has cage diving (also Sth Africa),and the ones I have seen show chumming being done to attract the GWs up the trail to the people in the cage,My question is this,do the GWs or any other shark associate the sound of the boat hull (all boats make a noise) as the waves lap on the hull, sure, they get the chum sent,ok,its only tuna or other fish, but it is enough to attract them to a sound, the water on the hull,we know that all sharks posses an enormous ability to detect vibrations in the water, and then they find a big lump of tuna head, and divers, albeit in the cage, but I do not remember as many incidents of sharks swimming up to and looking/investigating the noise of the hull,I am not suggesting Im right, but I would like all of the experienced older divers/fisherman thing, and question if Im may be on the money.jersey

The dinner gong
I can't vouch for it myself but I have heard a number of people comment that the sharks around Exmouth have associated the stopping of engines with an easy meal. Wouldn't come as any surprise to me.

smart sharks
kinda along the same lines but the 2 trips i did to the montes we noticed that the white tips certainly got used to us in the water and wised up to the point where we would shoot our guns be it at a fish or just to discharge and they would come flying from all corners! did not take them very long at all and it was obvious they where associating us with an easy feed...
