Dive vid

Had my first attempt at editing a vid so here it is. Forgive the watermark on the screen thoughout, am trying a few different editing packages before i buy one so this was a trial version and hence the watermark at points in the vid. Nothing special but will give you a bit of a look at the underwater world out there. Much better to watch in HD.

used the gopro Graham, I did

used the gopro Graham, I did film a dive with the head mount last week but it didnt really capture under the ledges very well so tried the loop instead. One of my dive buddies has one as well and the other is getting one soon so we should have a few different angles to work with for the coming vids.

thanks for sharing

thanks for sharing your vido with us, being a non diver to me it looks like it's not going to be a good season for crays,i say that because a lot of shelfs etc were i would expect there to be crays looked awfully bare. i would be interested in your comments on how you see the season so far, also can you tell me what deapth of water you were in.

cheers

 That's a pretty broad

Tue, 2012-12-04 21:14

That's a pretty broad statement to make after watching a five minute YouTube vid. You can come across ground that has the best hidey holes and crevices that screams crayfish and there's not a cray to be seen yet 50 metres away you can come across a small ledge on sand that might be filled with a dozen crays. It's not a case of any hole is a goal, you have to work for them. sometimes.

Cool vid timbo

There were a fair few crays

Fri, 2012-11-30 23:12

There were a fair few crays about, i expect to see some shells from this week onwards. Unfortunately the second dive we had we saw a few more but vid didn't work. We were in 30m, hope to get out again Sunday so might get some more footage up next week.

Software suggestion

Tue, 2012-12-04 20:55

Tiimmbo,

Awesome work with the vid, thanks for investing the time and sharing.

I'm no Windows fan, but have you tried the MS Movie Maker software?  I think it comes bundled, is free and quite straightforward to use.

Great work with the gopro, tiimmbo.

Vis looks pretty good, too. Where were you diving and what depth were you?

Nice looking ground you were diving mate.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of you're transitions you used in your video editing though. A simple fade would have been much better imo.

hi timmbo - nice vid mate.  Do u plan to mount your goPro on your cray loop?  If so how are you going to do this?

I've just ordered a roll-bar mount so I can mount it on my spear gun though didn't think of the loop...

This one was with the gopro

Wed, 2012-12-26 22:23

This one was with the gopro attached to the torch which was attached to the loop. Bit of electrical tape on the torch to the loop and roll bar mount for the gopro to the torch. Makes the loop pretty top heavy and always wanted to roll over. My other vid from Xmas eve crays was with the head mount which would probably bea better option for spearing. I just tried it on the loop to try get a better picture under the ledges that you don't really get as much with the head mount.

will try stick together with dive buddies next time and get one of them to film the dive for me. Sticking together when we hunt is hard work though as we get very distracted very easy then lose sight of each other more often than not.
