Hi, does anyone out there own or used a Banax GT 5000 reel ? Any feed back would be great.
As Im thinking of buying one, as I have the SX 5000 which Ive found to be an excellent reel.

ive got one, many used as a back up and a crappy reel that i dont really care if it gets scratched up, the biggest catch to date is a 2.5m bronzie off the shore in blommie/snaggy country so it just shows that it has some grunt. i havent used it a heap but from what i hav used of it, it has nice smooth even drag and is very strong, mines spooled with 55lb jigman braid but i would recomend using lighter line and not used as a heavy reel. what are you intending on using it for?
cheers

I'm pretty sure Albee Mangles owns or did own one. Maybe pm him for his opinion.

Bottom bashing
Just bottom bashing. Got $250 to spend.
Thought it might give good service, like the SX model

Banax GT
Hi Steve
The GT features some of the same parts that give the SX the durability. these being mainly the machine cut brass gears, brass pinion and stainless steel shielded ball bearings. The GT has extra features that put it up there with some of the toughest and hardest working reels in the market, just not at huge prices. There are a lot of charter operators and pros swithching over to the GT purely for the strength. Also the reels are made in Korea in Banax's own factory where they produce most of the internal parts so the QC is extremely high on all their products. The reel is covered by a 5 year warranty (including the bearings). let me know if you need a full specification on the reel.

I have one Steve.
Used it a fair bit, is solid, smooth. Still yet to really test it tho, on something solid. But so far so good.
Value for money tho, good reel!
