work pic not as spectacular as paul h,s work pics but this a pic of me and the appy working on the steering system on the notoriously cantankerous rio tug boat Star , Saturn ,Mars and Comet were much better behaved (photo is probably close to twenty years old)

Well,
That does look like mega hard work with your arms covered in grease pissing sweat covered in red dust in your torn overalls whilst in that airconned cabin.

hard work
the aircon was bloody good in that wheel house icy cold, but out side about 45 degrees had to start the port and starboard engines for the air con but as it wouldn't run of shore power , I was always crapping my self when I started the engines hoping I had opened all the right sea valves

But he was working his brain and butt hard
You do not have to be dirty to be working hard but I do respect massively the rock apes who work up there in the heat and dust - you deserve every penny

we get a lot of kiwi welders
we get a lot of kiwi welders and fitters rolling straight in from NZ, in the winter.
You just dont have the heart to enlighten them when they say "Bloody hot eh bro" in July!
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Did 5 weeks in Pannawonica
Did 5 weeks in Pannawonica once. Working on the roofs up there cyclone proofing them. 10l of water down before lunch tells you how hot it was. Hardest fricken work I ever did. Pub was good at night though ;)

The heat up north never
The heat up north never bothered me much but then again having the aircon going in the loader or digger always helped as did having icey cold cokes in the egel behind the seat was a bonus
