Done and dusted 30mins from the boat ramp

Went out with a mate for a Pink bash and ran over this lump not long into the trip. 180d around and first drop with the maxel 25 levitate combo, I leaned into this 940 long slob not bad for a pe1 jigging set up

Awsome sounder shot

Sun, 2019-09-01 22:05

Thats a great sounder shot and especially on 50htz in shallow water. i wish i could have come across that spot.

My interpretation of that sounder shot is that it is not a lump ktreloar, but a about 4 to 6 good size Dhuies schooling up bait fish and packing them on the bottom and having a feed. The reason i think this is because your main screen is showing that the white line, which is the bottom, does not follow the raised area (lump) which I think it would if this was a lump of ground, and your bottom lock shows no ground but a school of bait getting packed up with good size fish over and around them.

Is this is one of your regulor spots, then this would prove me wrong? If its not a regular spot, next time you're out if you cant see the lump,  that would potentially indicate it was a feeding frenzy going on.

This is only my interpretation, and either way I wish i can see more of that on my sounder.

Hey mate

This is a lump I have few hundred which I have freedived in the same area and they all look like this. White line will only show connected compacted ground anything above it is either soft coral (plate coral with linestone) or fish. It’s just getting to know your sounder that’s the tricky bit. When I was tuning mine I spent hours mucking around with transducer settings and locations until I was happy. The other thing that will help is species your catching off sounder shows, besides demetsals I nearly always get sergeant bakers and red gurnards from these lumps. I know from diving these species inhabit structure which is mainly plate coral. Also quite often jigging I rip up part of the plate coral as well
