Dongara

Team - got the old man coming over for his 70th and have booked a house at dongara for 4 days at the end of September. We'll be towing the boat up and am hoping someone can lend a bit of experience/help as i have never ventured up there before. I have read that the Abrohlos is amazing fishing but I am hoping that we don't have to go that far. Maybe if we arse some mint weather we could do a fast run across but ATM planning to fish within an hours run of the ramp.

Any help would be great - thanks

Abrolhos??? Not from Dongara mate unless you have supa huge fuel tank. 97 klicks to Pelsart from Dongara as opposed to 50ish to the wallabys from Port gregory.

Plenty of goodground out from Dongara dont have to go too far.

My home town mate and the Island's are too far from here in an ordinary boat, especially if it blows (which it will). You dont have to venture too far out to get a feed here just head out slight south west and get behind the reefs which you can see from shore and get into it, Dhuies snapper etc are the go, keep it in about 20mtr of water and dont get too adventurous and head out to 50+ as i have never had bite from that depth. It will get to 20 mtrs after you pass the outer reefs.

How far to port gregory from DOngara and would it be worth it if the weather was good to do a days run across. BOat has 200l of fuel and a pretty fair range and sits pretty comfortably at 30knots so if it is a 50 km run would not be to bad if you left early I imagine??

Also COlby - do the Tuna start to show up by this time of year or am I a bit early?

To far mate its about 65km

Fri, 2008-09-05 18:15

To far mate its about 65km to Gero by road from Dongara and another 80 to 100km's to Gregory from Gero(by road)Worth dragging the boat up there great fishin and a lot closer to the islands from there if your keen to see them.

Prior planning and preperation prevents piss poor performance
