Dongara Fishing options
Submitted by tainted on Mon, 2015-07-13 19:00
Hey Guys,
Late notice but I'm Dongara tomorrow and have the afternoon free. I was thinking of either a fish, 4WD, photo / reconnaissance or combination mission. Not sure weither to take lures or bait at this stage.
Does anyone have any recommendations or must sees?
Thanks in advance.

I've been up here for work for a few months and have noticed heaps of the locals fish off the rock wall facing north near the filleting benches. Might be worth a try?

South wall by the lamp
South wall by the lamp post/end of the road up there is the go. Theres a good sandy bottomed break in the reef which can be good for pinks and mullas when they come in. Usually full of bait fish as well so good for tailor.
I always thought the north wall (disabled platform) was for the tourists as its easy to fish off and a bit bland - structure wise. That said the water does get nicely coloured with the wash on that side and Ive seen a few good fish pulled out from the wall and beach.
Go north a bit to flat rocks/S bend plenty of reef up there to go exploring for the big jumbos this time of year.
