Drones and drone fishing
Submitted by NORUN NOFUN on Mon, 2019-05-20 11:19
Hey guys, looking at getting a drone. Anyone have any views on what they have, what's good what's not ?
looking at getting a DJI drone in some form, looking at the cheaper end before spending any decent cash.
Plus, if my drone decides to keep flying out to sea through my own fault, the less money spent, the better it will be lol.
Cheers

G'day Scotty I have a DJI
G'day Scotty I have a DJI Spark Mate ,great unit ,can be used in some strong winds and picture quality is awesome without spending big ($700) .Battery life is @16-20 mins and 500m ceiling and 1800m odd range does the trick .My kid does all the editing on IMovie pro and they come up a treat .
Highly recommend for good starter drone .

Hey Andy, that sounds like the go mate. Does the DJI Spark have a return to home feature ? I've always been interested in drones and have finally got around to doing something about it.

Drones
I have several drones and the best on the market is DJI . I’m using the maverick pro as it’s folds up into a small camera bag good quality pics and video .The only down side is where you can fly as CASA now regulating flight zones .

Handy tool
Mate is a pro fisherman in Shark Bay, uses a drone to locates schools of mullet and whiting and also for spotting goats when he goes out for a bit of bush tucker, says it saves him hours of searching

That's great info Andy on the RTH, I didn't know about those features. Love the part about finding goats carnarvonite, classic but damn smart.

That's Mavic,not maverick.
mate had one ( Mavic Pro) out at the Monties for our just-completed trip. I had a look at some of the streaming, looked awesome from altitude panning around the islands just after sunset. he says he got some great stuff, sending me all the raw footage to edit.

Haha - maybe it takes
Haha - maybe it takes Maverick from Top Gun to fly one ranmar. I hate bloody typo's, especially when I knew it was the Mavic. :-)
That footage would be great to see mate, especially of the Montie's.
Last time I was there I wish I had a drone to look at some of the lone bombie's in shallow water that we were casting lures at and pulling in thumping trout from. Just another perspective I guess.

'Maverick, this is Iceman"
yeah, bloody auto correct. i like the idea of the return to home feature, myself, but don't know how that would go off a moving boat. He's pretty new to it,but still managed to get some footage of tuna busting up off Tantabiddy, and got the drone back without swimming it. I'm amazed how far away they can go and still have comms--he was on the beach in Home Lagoon, and sent it right up the back of that little mangrove inlet, filmed all the little trevally and stuff that go in there in high tide.
When he gets it to me, I'll edit it up and post.

I am keen on the swellpro
I am keen on the swellpro splash 3+ for the whole waterproof side of things, and the payload capacity!
