Drum winch installer recommendations?
Submitted by straith on Sun, 2021-01-31 03:42
Hey guys,
Can anyone recommend a quality business/ person that knows about and can custom install a drum anchor winch on a 5.6 metre fg cuddy cab?
My boat only has an anchor well inside the front hatch so it will need to be mounted on the nose with serious reinforcing.
Ive read about Micks winches in South oz and it seems thats what im looking for, someone who knows his stuff, unfortunately Im in perth.
Im not looking for something dipped in gold, its not that sort of boat but it does have to be functional and as neat as possible.
I do have one guy i know can do it but hes not cheap as a rule but just want to see if theres any alternative options.
Any suggestions much appreciated

Hit up Frosty for some tips and tricks. He installed one on his boat recently. Mounting one on the deck is no different to mounting it in a well, just a different orientation. Whack a backing plate underneath and awaaaay you go. Looks like it's already beefy where the capstan is at the moment.

Install
I saw this install. Was great. Had to do a heap of reinforcing for it as well.

GT fibreglass can mount it
GT fibreglass can mount it and more than likely wire it up. Greg will also be able to strengthen the mounting area if need be.
