Yer
On the right hand side it is. Dunno why people just don't take there kids a couple hundred meters around the point so they can swim on the flats.

U get a few floating around
U get a few floating around but there has being no attacks. Don't think it's very necessary but suppose it makes all the visitors feel safe when swimming.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

I saw a 4m white pretty much
I saw a 4m white pretty much smack in the middle of that spot last summer!! Why wait for sightings or an attack before making an area safer for people to swim. I'd be more for it being put at meelup!
Any one free to help me pull my drum lines tomorrow?

could agree more reece
strange place to put it, castle rock to bunkers or similar wouldve been far more practical,
given that area past old dunsy boat ramp does have a stinger net there in summer past the swimming pontoon, and no one swims around the other areas,

Yep,
would've made much more sense to put it where the larger number of swimmers go eg. Meelup, Castle, Eagle Bay. Sure that location is close to town but not very practical.
After personally seeing a 4m+ GW swim past Castle Rock last April I for one have become far more nervous surfing/swimming in our local waters.

Plus attack at boneyards!
Plus attack at boneyards! That was like a spot IDE always felt secure, as in water is clear and all sand, no sneak attacks,
how wrong I was ey, never been back.....
Crazy always thought if it was to happen along that stretch it would be rocky point just round corner
I agree with above , meelup and a long skinny one for the paddle out to the box, coz that shit is just creepy.

LOL
always felt safe at the juvenile Seal playground less than 1km from one of the larger Seal colonies down here.
For me Bonies has always been the spot i've felt most uncomfortable. I've been out on at least 6-8 occasions where a juvi Seal (or 2) has swum through the lineup

Yea I know the seals and all
Yea I know the seals and all I just figured, shallow and a beachy, crystal water wouldn't bd the place , the farm over boneyards at least,

Think it will just be
Think it will just be entangled in seaweed adding more load on the net till it breaks.

apparently it a "barrier"
apparently it a "barrier" and not a net. They said it's like a underwater fence and it wont tangle with other marine life like a net would.

Understand that its not
Understand that its not supposed to have marine life caught in it but seaweed will get caught on almost anything.

Browny points
Its all to collect browny points from the general public that don't have any idea that man eating sharks don't go down in to that little corner then the Gov can claim its a success.
Just that its in Buswell's electorate could be coincidence???

Under Pressure carnarvonite
The pollies are umder pressure from the tourist industry down this way ever since we had two people taken by sharks and when the number of tourists visiting the region fell substantially it hurt a lot of business's.They are trying to eleviate the impact by having safe swimming areas along the coast with beacons to detect tagged sharks all aimed at assuring holiday makers it's a safe place to visit.Tourism is the life blood of communities like ours and must be protected.

I can't see the big drama.
I can't see the big drama. It's only there for a trial as well. Everyone whinges and carries on when there's an attack, the gov tries to alleviate some of the problem and there's still whinging lol

can you see a pattern
can you see a pattern emerging...
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Can someone point out to me where the boatramp is
in this photo. Is it the gap covered up by the "save as" sign? I am a little lost as to the precise location.
But I have no problems with this trial and it is a barrier that will allow smaller fish to be able to get through.

Hi Crasny1, The "save as"
Hi Crasny1, The "save as" sign is covering up the boat ramp. Its the little break in the weed bank.
Cheers
