Barge pole comes to mind in
Barge pole comes to mind in regards to Scoupons and fishing charters!!
Scoupon have been known to oversell to the point the operator can not possibly fulfil all the vouchers. If the operator doesn't take them out in the allocated time Scoupon get to keep the lot. Know of one charter operator who refuses to deal with them.

I believe they are boats that
I believe they are boats that come down from further north for the off peak season.
Scoopon is just cream to them particularly when people never get a chance to cash them in.
Lets face it. You were never going to get a quality metro charter for less than $100.
Keen fishos are not the target market.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

I bought one for the missus
I bought one for the missus last year and still haven't been out! Lol. To be fair we've so far been called off once when the boat broke (happens - not much can be done), 3 times for bad weather (all > 2m swell + 15 knots = fair enough) and twice as I've had work come up and had to travel to site. Bit shit, but what can ya do!? We're now booked for Sunday 25th August, so hopefully (fingers, toes, dicks etc crossed) we get out and get fish :)
Weren't cheap either still at $180 pp.

worst fishing charter EVER.
worst fishing charter EVER. Slowest boat took over 3 hours to get back from just the other side of rottnest. Equipment was shit. Even the line was f#cked and splitting. Seemed to just drive around all day. Would definitely ask for money back and not waste my time.

Missus tried to prove a point
Couple of years ago when this scoupon thing went feral, my missus and her mates went nuts and bought heaps of them. I wasn't too impressed about the extra spending. Tried to tell her is a way of back up for businesses and they would still look after the full paying ones first. Cut the long story short when I came home one day she said, ' look they even got fishing ones and I got you two!' I managed to use one, had to say although I didn't catch anything I managed few good conversations with people that couldn't fit in between fishos on the packed boat. Gave up trying to use the second one after a few attempts.

Scoopon Freo Charter
Myself and 2 mates went on one out of fremantle about 8 weeks ago. It was a birthday present from his misses.
Had to reschedule it twice due to the weather, which was fair enough since it was blowing SW 25-35 knots on both days that they cancelled. Didnt get off to a good start with no phone call the day before to confirm the charter and no answer on the contact number they gave us, but boat arrived at the jetty at 7am as planned so all was good.
The boat was an old 35 - 40 foot Cray boat, fishing gear was Jarvis Walker spinning reels, approx 20 people fishing, should be interesting we thought. Left Freo about 7.45, boat could only do 6 knots because of motor trouble, thou I think that was it's top speed anyway. We fished the reef area north of rotto for most of the morning, a couple of undersize snapper , KG and a small just size dhuie were landed. Had a lot of fun with people fishing on both sides of the boat, tangle city, and plenty of gear lost. SURPRISE, SURPRISE.
Had a barbeque lunch after they cleaned the 2" of fat off the barby. Sausage in a piece of bread, had our own beer so all was good.
Spent the next 1 1/2 hours drifting on sand, the skipper obviously didnt want to lose any more gear.
Headed back in at 1.30pm, skipper again complaining of motor problems. Back at Freo 3pm.
Would obviously never go on that charter again, that goes without saying, but we still had a good day, with good mates and other keen fishos on board.
Some would say we got what we paid for.
A Boat ride.
