I have ordered a couple from japan/malaysia with no dramas, interesting on that 54 abledog,i was under the impression with some us distributors like jdm they wont let you purchase the rods if there is a local distributor. You will love that rod btw, perfect matched to a 4500 salti, 8000 stella or similar.

As long as you stick to the brands you know and make sure you check the sellers feedback score you will be fine. I buy most of my gear (mostly Daiwa) off ebay and have never had a problem... and have saved a fortune! Good luck!!

Matched with 2010 Twinpower 8000SW

Hi Chrisp,

I matched the Smith 54H with the new Twinpower 8000SW loaded with Varivas BIGONE PE5 and 100lb flurocarbon leader.  Got about 280m on the spool.

Can't wait to use it
