Eating whiting

So when not hunting the notorious tailor I've been playing inside the marina with bream and pinkies. But always thrown all fish back as just after a bit of fun.
As sand whiting have no size limit what would be a decent edible size. I've seen people taking really small whiting which to me seems like a waste of a good fish that could have grown.
even with no size limit what do you guys consider too small for eating once filleted.

Yeah wolf, same here. I usually thrown them back if they are under 6" or so. Even with that size the fillets are only a "fish finger" size each anyway.

I dont waist my time with fish under 20-25cm. purley because I couldnt be stuffed filleting them for little return. small ones make a good live bait (or dead for that matter).

Or just gut, scale and
Or just gut, scale and deepfry whole - then no issue with eating the bones
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
