Elactric outboard battery
I bought a watersnake electric motor for my kayak, all I want is reverse (drag) to stop being dragged out to sea or into the mangroves , even little catfish have towed me into the unknowns, let alone 30 kg Northern Mulloway......can be fun....can turn into a nightmare with tides, crocs, sharks etc. real fast.
I need a battery, manufacture (Jarvis walker) says never go lithium, too many volts will cook the motor? Lots of videos on youtube showing blokes "testing" the motors but can't seem to find many that are still using the motors? They BBQ"d them? I dunno
So.....is anyone out there running a watersnake on Lithium batteries?
OH.... Department of transport reqiures my kayak to be registered now, I need to get a HIN, proof of ownership, serial # of motor......FFS

Got 2 one with brushes Geo
Got 2 one with brushes Geo spot 65lb and one brushless 70lb both 12vdc. Run lithium on both but don't run the brushed one at full speed. Lithium have a habit of destroying the commutators on brushed motors.
Many a min kota has met its end with lithium.
But the brushless one is a weapon never had an issue and is way more powerful even though only 5lb between them!!
Check out the brushless units but beware that most electric motors are hard to find with low stock issues.

I'm brushed
Thanks for all the info. My little t24 has brushs so i'll just go led acid deep cycle, I dont want that extra weight....but ...so be it. If I was to go 70lb brushless..whoa, I'm not planning on racing it ,but I might look more into getting one
