Electric Motor on Surf Ski
Submitted by Swan River Fisher on Sat, 2011-09-17 07:53
Hi guys, I just picked up 2 cool surf skiis from a garage sale for 20 bucks each. One is bigger than the other and i was thinking of putting an 18lb electric motor on the back. Do you think its possible? The surfski can take up to 80kg, and im only 55kg max. Would it work? Have any of you guys tried it?
Cheers Ben

55kg sounds like you need
55kg sounds like you need the paddling, hah but many people have elec motors on ski's and there are plenty of ideas on mounting them too, have a look at this….

I think the main issue would be if it’s unstable, you don’t really want to be flipping with electricity involved.

mmm I've seen some good videos, but their kayaks are bigger and newer than mine...
Maybe i'll just stick to going on my dinghy if it becomes too much work :)
