Exmouth in July

Hi there,
We are heading to Exmouth in the July school holidays, and plan to do mostly land based or Kayak fishing.
Its been about 15 years since I was last there. Ive searched the archives and come up with lots of good info on tackle and species etc.
But..
what is the fishing like in July? Some people have told me land based is a bit quiet that time of year. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Was there last July, didnt have much luck in the yak as I am pretty new to lure fishing but scored a 1.1m spanish mackeral off the beach just past the Pt Murat sanctuary zone.
