Exmouth in May
Submitted by Detor on Tue, 2007-04-17 12:26
Guys
Heading to Exmouth on the 5th of May for three weeks. Fished Exmouth a couple of years ago with mixed results. Looking to do some bottom bouncing and trawling. Any advice on methods and locations to fish would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is going to be up their at the same time let me know and we can get together and share information on where the fish are.

Exmouth for 2 weeks
heading to exmouth April 27 th for two weeks. Staying at the Lighthouse Caravan Park and hope to spend 2 weeks hooked up to Marlin out from Tantabiddi . Send me a message if you wish to catch up and share info. As we will be there a week before you we may be able to help with where they are biting. Would also like to catch up with ADAM and get a few tips from the master.
Paul.
Any day fishing is a great day !!

Yep
Sheesh, you are kind SPESS. :) I will be in town most of those days, except the 14th to the 19th of May. You will probably see me at the boat ramps a fair few of those days. If you need a deckie or drinking partner on any of them, let me know. Otherwise, I'm sure we can catch up for a coldie at the pub and go from there.
Cheers,
Adam

Good stuff
Sounds like we've got a crowd coming up around then. So far we have Boonie and the boys, Detor and Paul N. Might have to get together for a big drinking session by the sounds of things.
I'm certainly keen to catch up. Oh and just to make that wait a little harder for you Paul, theres a fair few sails and marlin being caught lately, good size too, just your average 100kg blacks etc etc.. :))) To find out roughly where will cost you a beer or two thou. :)

Local
Gotta do 15-20 years before becoming local up here, or so the locals say. LOL. Most of them will be dead by then. Oh, and none of that information came from my work either, speaking to a few in the know about the place.

Small Price to Pay
Thanks Adam just what I want to hear - Marlin and Sails and i'm stuck in Perth..... as if I wasn't already counting down the days. A beer or two is a small price to pay Hell i'd even help you drink them . I am heading up with another fishwrecked member Robert N and a mate of mine that is flying in from Sydney for the long drive north . Fished Exmouth the last couple of years after about 20 years of going to Onslow. Got the Marlin feever last year after hooking a few without taging any. After 12 months planning and emptying a few tackle stores we are set. Just need good weather , lots of luck and some local knowledge wouldn't go astray.

Another angle
Guys if you are heading up to Exxy I am sure Adam has it wired by now so he will obviously give you some great advice but if you are interested in Billies and Sails then it wouldn't hurt to give Boxy a call and book a charter between a few of you on "Indizara" (Exmouth Game Fishing Charters).
Boxy is the guru up there for marlin and if he can't show you where and how to catch billies no-one can. Just tell him I sent you and he will charge you double and smear sunscreen on your baits and lures. (Nah only kidding) He'll look after you I'm sure and a better bloke to spend a day on the water with you will never find. Wait till you see his hand made Marlin Lures....awesome!!! I have some video of him rigging up which just shows how little I know and how much I still have to learn. The man's a machine.
Cheers

Calculating
I'm doing my physics as well. Calculating.... 100 kg fish / 8-10kg drag pressure / 15kg line class, with external force of current + wind - sunburn + exertion of effort x beer consumption = fun fun fun. :)

Re - Boat
I have 6.4mtr Penguine but have difficulty with the ramp at tantabiddi so we are taking Robert N's boat a 6mtr Quintrex Ocean Sports. Took his boat last year and the ramp was no prob. only draws about 6 inches and mine about 2 feet.
Yes it hurts bad --- reeeeeeeal bad!!!!
