Horrocks Beach

Howdy.
Heading up to Horrocks next week for a quick mission. have dinghy and possibly 5.3m ali boats. Never fished there before but liked Little Bay when there in 1999. Planning on camping there the weekend after Easter and hoping to nail a couple Macs, trout, dhu, pinky, mulloway.... High hopes I know.
Any tips on seasons for those species (ie: are we too late for dhu, will they likely be deep or in close, is there no point scratching around for mulloway etc etc) or for camping there in general - the track is still strictly 4x4 i assume. Planning to leave trailer at boat ramp in town and cruise dinghy around to little bay... i seem to remember there being fairly safe anchorage in the bay or to beach dinghy on shore?

any good feedback appreciated.

cheers fellas
hansie

When i went around aus

When i went around aus horroks beach was the nicest ive ever seen! I love that place. Dont count out the jetty at night i landed some awsome fish from there including a 3kg pinky! Take your tinny straight out from the jetty about 2km off and theres some awsome ground around that mark, you'll see it with a sounder easy enough and there will be shit loads of cray pots around there as well. Alittle further out theres good ground everwhere and dhues and plently of good skippy shouldnt be a problem. Good tailor at night from the beach that heads north of the town beach but i never tryed for mulloway much there as there are bluddy big rays at times in the area. FWA did a write up in one of there mags last year if you seen it but only covered deeper stuff. Id move there in a instant if i could get work around there, just loveit. Hope this helps. Chris.

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
