Kalbarri/ Dirkharthog(turtle bay)

Hi guys, Im heading to kalbarri for the easeter break with my 5m console.
not having been there for some time i'm a bit green as to whats biting this time of year. I'm hoping to chase some mackies and tuna trolling up and down the coast and try some bottom bouncing if I come across any lumps on my travels. But really this trip is just a meer warm up to the yearly boys epic trip the Dirkhartog camping at whitnell point. I need some tips on hunting GT's. I heard they run in reasonable numbers there, maybe not like further north but i think im still in with a chance. Never having targeted them before ive been reading up on them, but some first hand info from people who have wrestled these beasts before would be appreciated.
My girlfriend thinks im crazy obsessing over a fish but i know it will be worth it.
Cheers.

The only thing that i could

The only thing that i could recomend is to have all your gear up scratch, have plenty of lures and hold on! Quality gear is what has landed me the most and biggest fish with no problems. 10lb gear is awsome fun for the smaller ones but 50lb minimum will be required to stop anything between 30 to 60 pounds of fish and a strong rod with heaps of grunt behind it so you can turn them around after they try and bust you off. There are GT popper rods on the market but no worth buying if your only going once to try for them. Try fish with 30lb braid on a reel that holds atleast 250m of line and a rod between 6 to 7' and rated in around the 15kg class but flexable and light enough to cast lures all day. Hope this has helped but its only what i think. If you were to go alittle higher up to chase bigger ones then thats a whole new ball game. 80lb braid and 120lb leaders and you still get smoked at times! Hell yEah!

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
