I'm going on a 10 day trip to the Outer Coral Sea Territories and have decided to get a new spining reel/rod. Has anyone used the Shimano Twinpower 8000PG? I need to go as heavy as possible....and will use it for just about everything except heavy trolling?.......and no....I'm not going to get a Stella or Saltiga$$$$$

Can you get the 8000PG in
Can you get the 8000PG in Aus or do you need to order one from O/S. I was looking at something the same as my spheros 8000 just doesn't cut it anymore. Had a look at the new stradic but dont know how they will go. Have you thought about the Diawa capricorn 4500, a good strong reel.

I have'nt fished the Twinpower but also suggest the Spheros 14000 as the reel for the job. I have one with the carbonex drag (around $20.00) and main bearing upgrade (around $25.00) and used it along side the big names you mentioned with similar results. Bloody tough reel.

Unfortunately you do need to
Unfortunately you do need to spend the dosh to get something that will handle job you are asking. That's why Twinpowers are 2nd fiddle to the Stella. The Twinpower you mentioned is not available in Aus and its rated to 50lb max.
How heavy are you planning to run???

As heavy as possible....may
As heavy as possible....may have to have another look. I'm using a Tiburon overhead running PE8 and have been immpressed by its performance. I don't want to go lighter than that.....Coral sea carnage

Then unfortunately there's
Then unfortunately there's no reels out there less then the Stellas, Saltigas, Twinspin and VanStaal that can handle PE8 day in day out. THe Twinpower 8000 is design for PE5-6 max and would not hold much PE8.
Maybe sell something that you dont use anymore to increase your budget??
