I think pirate as we where catching a few decent squid at that same area in 250m on jigs haha

Is a bit of a new one for me, can't say I have ever seen anything like that that has not been man made any answers appreciated to solve my curiosity.

The whole in tuna is either a
Cookie cutter shark or squid not sure however i have just uploaded a pic of the sorta squid we where catchimg at same spot

I agree, the wound is very consistent with a bite from a cookie cutter shark.

I must confess I have never heard of such a thing of the WA coast if they leave a bite like that I most certainly would not like the experience of running into one if I was in their neighbourhood.

Yup in all warmer water oceans
And really deep, up to 3+ km but comm9nly found in deep water near islands so one assumes Rotto qualifies
