Finally the weather had a rest and let us out to the FADs.(Pic Posted)
Looked at the weather on Sunday and decided to giv Till a call for a fish today, FAD bashing. It wasn't the best of forecasts and the reliability of the weather man hasn't been up to scratch of late, but I thought stuff it I have a Stella to break in.
We left he ramp at around 0515 which was still dark. As we entered the sound I turned for the islands, going along it was hard to see through the window as the GPS and Sounder was giving off too much glare. I was looking at these two strange lights and wondering what they were as I was sure I hadn't seen hem before. As Till was sitting in the passenger seat he could see a bit better and alerted me to the huge cargo ship I was about to tackle. Hazard avoided we pressed on.
Got to the FADs and Till started throwing his weapon of choice out, and within minutes was hooked up, lovely! was the call.
Hook-up!
Till was holding the fish in the water for me to stop drooling over my new Stella 5000 and KGS-68M Smith set-up and get a cast away to his mates that were swimming with him (egging him to jump we thought).
Waiting for me?
Result!
Finally I got a shot off but to no avail. Next cast same result. While retrieving the third cast I started to think maybe they had shut down as there were a few around but no takers. The lure was nearly at the back of the boat when Whack!, a Dolly nailed it, F@#$%^& Awesome was the call and the little 5000 arked up and put the brakes on the bullet.
Yee Yaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
We caught approximately 8-10 Dollies and kept three (Till accounted for most), 2 small Tuna and 2 Undersized YTK. It was a very good day and I was extremely happy with the rod and reel set-up (mind you a big bull would be good on it) and look forward to testing it out in Exxy..
To top the day off we witnessed the storm front rip through Perth with a lightning show that had me shitting as we had to drive into it to get home. Wiil post the pics tomorrow.
Thanks again Till for spotting the ship, mind you I reakon we could have had him....................

That bulk carrier was rather alarming! It is a little hard to see past the warm glow of the HDS10 paired with the FCV585!
Those dolphinfish are great fun, but as usual you have to keep switching the setup to keep them on.
Its a bit easier for the decklie to outfish the skipper, I mostly just have to take opportune casts while he skipper does the driving =)
Cheers for the trip & ta Paula for the wraps!

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

i might go out in the river for some prawns if the tides are right.
