First fish on new boat - Fish ID
Submitted by selthy on Fri, 2017-12-01 20:08
Went out from Ocean Reef today with the intention of getting the deck dirty for the first time. I landed this as my first fish. Initial thoughts was that it is a Bonito, however appears to look different to other Bonito pics I have seen. Mackeral? Measured 35cm and went straight back in. Caught using a basic paternosta rig with long shank hooks as we were chasing somem whiting.

Just looked up blue mackerel on fish.wa and that looks to be it.
Hopefully more luck will come my way when the demersal ban ends in a few weeks.
