Nice fish. Havent caught a flathead over here (except undersized offshore), but tried a few times. Heard the colder weather makes them a lot harder to catch though. What lures/bait were you using?

I don't know if anyone fishes around there much, but I went to a function last week on Broadway jetty at Nedlands. On the way back from the restaurant I noticed a decent sized flathead sitting under the jetty and a few bream (fairly small) nosing around. It might be worth a try if you are down that way.

a great bait for big flathead

one of the best baits for big lizards is fresh flathead. if you catch a 20-28cm flatty slab it, drop it on a 6'o and wait for a couple of big tap taps...the calling sign of a big goanna

Might want to be a little careful, size limits still apply if you use it for bait (afaik?)
