First Quantum Minerals

Howdy all, I've just scored a new job with FQM at the Ravensthorpe Nickel project that BHP shut down a couple of years back. I'm going to be a process shift supervisor. Went over there last week for a meet and greet, the plant's looking very good with plenty of modifications being made and the village is very nice indeed. They are still looking for plenty of people as they need a whole new workforce. I've pasted a link to their careeers web site.
Cheers
Dale

Gday Dale, when are they
Gday Dale, when are they going to start recruiting mining personell and start mining again? I worked there for 2 years, maintaining drill rigs, before it shut down......it was a good place to work. Not to sure about this 2:1 roster....seems a backward step from BHPs 7:7, 8:6 roster....

G'day Woody, I think they are
G'day Woody, I think they are already moving ore around etc. They are not looking to start up until the 3rd quarter this year, but may make some mineral earlier if all works good for commisioning. Yeah the 2-1 roster is a pain, but the dollars are exceptional. There is a rumour that they might go 8-6, need to wait and see what happens after start up. But one thing in it's favour, no stinking hot weather like up north to put up with day after day. Might even get pretty chilly in the winter.
Cheers

Good Luck
A couple of my mates have pulled the pin down there already because of working conditions. They worked for BHP like myself down there and probably expected it to be run how it had in the past. I had been called up by several guys a while back to see if I wanted to go back, but weighing up the roster compared to the pay I thought it wasn't worth it. The utility area is one of the most automated places I have worked and the equipment was top notch compared to other sites.
