First time in Dongara

Headed up to Donagara for the first time this long weekend.

I'll be honest, I found it extremely hard to find decent ground holding fish. We did manage to find one nice little lump though that produced the goods.

The missus managed to get her first red emperor which was a nice surprise as well as her PB dhu.

If anyones got any advice on finding ground up there I'm all ears.

Well done. Them reds are worth looking around for. The northern fish are certainly making their way down this way. Its either warmer waters or they are just running from the sharks .

Great haul in the end . You certainly cant complain about the mixed bag

The issue up there is too much ground

I crayfished out of there in the whites for the last 6 years I was in the game, and there is so much ground I wouldn't know where to start. There's a heap of flat ground out in the 40's ( metres) west of the leads and further south  exending for miles.  lumps? Don't kow if you need lumps on that sort of ground, just find fish marking. If you want lumps, go into The Graveyard between  the Irwin Reef and the Leander, insanely rugged. Heaps of inshore lumps on the way to the Leander.

Too much lost gear in the graveyard! Very hard not to lose gear in there. But as ranmar has said the flat 20-24 fathoms holds a lot of good fish.
