Fish ID

Hey Guys,
I was wondering if someone could help me ID this fish i caught on the weekend. I caught it about 30km off of Bunbury in about 32m. I released it after the photo was taken and released successfully but curious to what it could be as i have never seen one before. I showed a person i know the photo to see if he could ID it but he was unsure of the name but said he had caught them befoe and were very good eating ??
Interested to see what others say.
I have also made up a flasher with a gopro mounted to it and trialed it on the weekend, worked really good. when i get a chance i'll put some photos up of it. made for some interesting viewing.

Looks like a western rock blackfish but could be wrong

Its got me stumpped actually,
Its got me stumpped actually, I guess the blotchy colour with a hint of purple in it of it could be throwing me out. It would have been every bit of 600mm long and nice and thick through the shoulders. I should have taken a better photo of it but was more concened about releasing it as i wasnt sure what it was.
