Fish ID please

Hi,

Just got back from Exmouth and I have a question about a fish that we caught. We pulled it up in 190 metres of water out from Tantabiddi. Could someone please tell me what it is and if it is any good to eat.

Thanks,

Ken

not a goldband, cant recall seeing one of those before but havent fished that depth up there for a loooong time.

Incidentally the goldband do come in alot shallower than that, and caught two about 5 mile outside Port Hedland about 10 years back, only small though in 35 meters

Should be as they are caught

Should be as they are caught commercially over east. Rare catch on the west coast.

Not sure mate Ive never caught or eaten one.

I referenced it from my copy of "Sea Fishes of Southern Australia" but it does give a 3 star edibilty rating so worth a try.

Good luck and let us know how it tastes
