Fish with new FW crew

Went out for a fish this morning and gentelmens hour. With some new people from FW. David(david.d) and Jarrod(Alwaysfishin) They were both great deckies and highly reccomend them!

Was a sloppy start to the morning. A quick stop for bait resulted in 20 nice whiting and headed deeper to the 50's with the new Dragonfly! The fish where not interested in baits jigs or plastics!

On the tide change we got a few fish in before i had to come in.

Was good to get some fish to try Extreme Coolers Evapac machine. Its brilliant!

The Raymarine Dragonfly performed very well in 50m!

Shark ID anyone ? Yes it was released!

Big thanks to Vin for the day out. Even though the fish didn't seem to be interested, it was still a good day out. Great skipper, great blokes and a great tub. Personal highlight for myself was the shark, which was caught on a 7" McArthy bullhead minnow, definitely a first on plastic. The shark was released as we couldn't identify it, so does anyone have a positive id?

Once again thanks for the day out Vin, was great to meet you and I look forward to our next fish together. Cheers

Haha yep just done a quick google search and whiskery was my guess. Bummer to throw back a quality eating shark, especially as I rate sharks on the plate, but I guess I can hold my head high for returning it due to not having a positive identification. That shark can sure count itself lucky haha

Nice dhu Vin, cant complain

Sun, 2013-08-18 20:34

Nice dhu Vin, cant complain with that, especially since the ones on the sounder werent on the chew. Did the bait do the damage on him?

whiskery shark

Sun, 2013-08-18 21:14

my uncle was pro fishing out of cowie bay in the early 60's, his deckie

hooked something sizeable, on the way up they both called it for a whiskerie,

it was a kg 'over a yard long'.

great day out

Mon, 2013-08-19 10:03

It was a great day out with the boys much thanks to Vin for taking us was very enjoyable day with great blokes and a great boat. The baldy went down a treat and was very tasty. Unlucky about the shark Jarrod still a great capture on a placcy. For anyone wondering about the raymarine sounder and the chirp all i can say is that vins sounder was showing crystal clear with good definition of structure and great picture. I would be more than happy to have one on my boat(when i get one). Thanks heaps Vinnie was a great day and would love to come out again some day.
