Fishing Dampier Tomorrow
Submitted by jay_burgess on Sat, 2007-04-07 20:36
Heading out with a family friend tomorrow (Still haven't got our new boat). Been a good 6 weeks since we've been out and I'm getting withdrawls. Weather forecast looks the goods.
Morning
Light winds with a slight chop. Small long period swell.
Winds: SSE 6 to 8 knots
Seas: WNW 2 feet at 12 sec.
Afternoon
Light and variable winds with smooth seas. Small long period swell.
Winds: NNW 5 to 7 knots
Seas: WNW 2 feet at 12 sec.
The plan is to do a bit of jigging (macks, trevally, cobia, tuna..) and also have some baits in to get some good table fish. After that we'll hopefully do some trolling for macks and possibly go for some sails.
Will report tomorrow.

Well we tried some new
Well we tried some new ground out near bare rock. I ended up with a nice Golden Trevally on jig, a gold spot trevally on jig and a queenie on jig which was awesome fun. Got an average long nose emperor on bait which was a bit of a surprise as it was the first one I've caught off Dampier. Got a couple of small trout (released). Did some trolling for a couple of hours but the macks weren't playing the game.
All in all it wasn't the best day but still good to try out some new ground and get some fish on jigs.
Got a pic of the golden trevally and I might be able to capture a still shot of the queenie when I upload the footage.
