Fishing Dunsborough - October

Hi All,

We are thinking of heading down to Dunsborough mid October, we have currently purchased a little tinny and wanted to do some fishing in the bay for the usual Crabs, Squid and hopefully some whiting.

Just wonder where the better place to try is?

Is it better to launch at the old Dunsborough ramp or the newer one down the Quindilup end?

Any tips advice you can off is appreciated?

Cheers

Hi Wookstar,

Thanks for your reply, how deep is the water generally for crabbing?

Are Squid still plentiful just drifting over the weed banks?

Best to just work your way around sand holes chasing whiting?

Cheers

you generally dont have to go

you generally dont have to go deeper than 5m for crabs and i usually go about 100-300m off shore and set you pots on sand neer a weed bank.

squid will be in the weed so drifting over them and casting jigs should produce.

go arround the quindelup morings for whighting, i have seen some beauties swimming arround there and also caught a feed of them as well

best of luck for when you come down here

You didnt mention you were targeting tailor but if you are head to the southern dunsborough boatramp (unsure if this is the new or old) and wet a line off the rocks too the left (as your looking out towards the ocean).

I've gone for squid off the jetty down there as well and managed to snag a few, so any weed patches not too far offshore should profit.

Good luck
