Tell him to take the short
Tell him to take the short drive up to Point Samson and fish the causeway there on an outgoing tide, preferably afternoon. Good chance of some Jacks this time of year. I'd recomend 30lb spin gear, 20lb minimum. Live mullet are the way to go, you can usually get them in the shallows close by if you're good with a cast net. Running sinker rig with a 4/0 is what I normally use. Occassionaly get snagged there but that's life.
Scottie who did you contact regarding apprenticeships up there?

Did they say that they don't take on apprentices during their apprenticeships or did they just not have any positions available?

Are you familiar with the
Are you familiar with the area? Are you going to have a 4wd? There is this track that gives access to a nice little creek system over near cossack but you'll need a 4WD. We used to get heaps of Jacks there, haven't tried there for a while. I can get satellite images and show you if you'd like.
I find that it fished a little better than the easy to get spots. It's not really out of the way but it seems to get fished a bit less.
This spot, and the causeway mentioned above were the main landbased spots we hit while Mum was living in Wickham. Other than that we mainly used the boat.

I really haven't given lures
I really haven't given lures a go which is something I must get around to... just laziness on my part. Definately worth giving a shot and I'd seriously recommend taking the cast net.
Head out towards the lookout from Cossack, take a left towards settlers beach and just as you go down the hill take a left onto the 4WD track. Turnoff is indicated by the dot on the pic.

That mud flat you go across
That mud flat you go across is firm, even after it's had water on it. Maker sure you check the tides before you go, I'd only recommend going there on the low tide. Walk around, find a deep hole and you should get something.

Yeah that's Wickham on the left. If in doubt, just fish the causeway but if you've got the time, definately scope this spot out.
