Fishing Licence on the Water

Thought I'd share some info I clarified with Fisheries yesterday.

I took my father in law and his mate from Scotland out a while back and we just fished under my licence because there is no way 2x Scotsmen were going to fork out $30 each for one morning's fishing. It was a very slow bite and we only got the one sized dhu after 2 hours so we were fine under my licence.

I wanted to know if this happens again in the future on a good bite can we stop fishing after bagging out on my licence, pay for a licence online on the water and keep fishing.

I rang two separate Fisheries offices to ask the same question and the answer is yes.

Both told me that the Fisheries officers will ring through and confirm the exact time you paid for your licence but I'll also take pics of the fish as I go as well as a screenshot of the confirmed licence payment so that I have a timestamp of events.

Now I just need to actually bag out....

Pretty soon we'll need a licence to expel methane gas but I digress.

Good info but I'd make sure you have everything water tight before you head back to the ramp.

i usually keep my fishing license up to date but the one time i forgot to renew it i went out fishing with a mate and we boated a dhuie and a baldie out of ocean reef. i all of a sudden remembered that i didn't renew my license so i hoped on my phone and did it and took a screen shot of my reciept, kept fishing and caught our bag. we decided to stop along the 3 mile to try for kg's when fisheries pulled us up and checked us over and it was all good, he just looked at my reciept and said i was lucky i remembered to renew it before we came in.

Maybe they could look at a 3 day licence like they have in the eastern states for this exact reason. ($7 for 3 days)
