Fishing Licences as of 2010

Gday,
Im moving to WA soon (HOPEFULLY!!!) and have a couple of questions regarding fishing licences.
Ive searched the web and this forum and Im still confused.......
Can someone tell me if this is right?
Fishing licence - $ 230 per year covers everything land based and boat, fresh and salt water.
Any amount of people can fish under this licence but it only entitles you to 1 bag limit per licence.
The licence is only valid in a selected area, such as Gascoyne etc.
Also...how much is boat rego?
Cheers

Only if you want to do
Only if you want to do everything. If you're fishing landbased, then no license needed, and if boat based then just RFBL at $30. Your son can fish in your bag limit too without getting another license if you wanted.
If you want to fish for lobsters, marron, abalone, freshwater fishing and cast nets, then it would be $230 (and half for your son if he's under 16). As far as I remember, they took out the bundle options, so you may as well only add what you need. No getting licenses you dont need and wont use.

yes they both can. Anyone
yes they both can. Anyone can fish but everyone can only keep upto a licence holder's limit.
Eg 4 people, only 2 with licence, total fish is 2 licence's bag limits.

you can fish off the shore
you can fish off the shore basically anywhere in WA without any licence at all (except for freshwater).
freshwater licence is $45 per adult, less for children, pensioners etc.
if you want to fish off a boat then you need a $30 per year licence. only one licence is required per boat, but this means you can only keep one persons bag limit.
so you are correct, if you and your son both have licences and your daughter and wife are also on board, you can all fish but only a two person bag limit can be kept.
check out the links that Oceanside posted, they will give you all the exact rules and regulations.
as far as fishing licences go it's really not that expensive though. i'd probably just get a fishing from a boat licence each for you and your son which will set you back $60 total, and then worry about all other licences when you come to them. most of the best fishing (IMO anyway) in WA is to be had in the saltwater, so no need for a freshwater licence to start off with, unless you decide you would like to give it a try, then before you go you can always go to your local auspost office (or online) and purchase one. same goes for all the other licences (marron, abalone + crayfish).
