Fishing at Night

Ok, realy dumb question but I thought id throw it out there....

For a person who uses lures a lot, what do you find is the best way to fish at night?

I have been told that lures are pretty much useless at night because fish hunt mainly by scent and sound at night and lures have neither of these....

Anyone have any suggestions, or does the avid lure caster revert back to bait for night fishing?

Poppers work at night, the sound of the action makes fish inquisitive. Soft plastics could work, due to the action when they hit the bottom and the retreive motion, fish can sense the activity, even though the sight factor makes it that much more unlikely. Personally I'd go back to bait, just has that little bit extra working in its favour.

Try a rattling spot or halco trembler style with a slow twitching retrieve

Like Adam says poppers do

Like Adam says poppers do work at night as do raiders with a little glow light just in front of the lure but not to close as it stuffes the action to much! Ive sprayed metals with altabrite at night and have caught good fish. But always take alittle bait to make sure if there not biting because you always cant see the areas in which your casting so snaggs are always possible, with bait it can wash around and hopefully find the gutter or structure in which the fish are holding on. Like everything in fishing, it cant hurt to try. I know that people have caught pink snapper in the sound at night on fly before so thats got to say something.

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

im not sure wat u guys are chasing down there but we use lures all the time during the evening up here for all our creek species barras jacks threadies ect... anything moving thru the water is going to put off vibrations which the fish pick up thru there lat lines.... and also using lures with internal rattles seem to help... aint got no particular colours and such but yeah... hope that helps... i think its all personal opinion really...
