Fishwrecked Mindarie Invititational - CANCELLED until SUNDAY 17th

The Fishwrecked Mindarie Invititational on Saturday 9th has been CANCELLED until SUNDAY 17th DECEMBER due to bad forecasted weather conditions tomorrow.

For the safety of everyone involved I don't think that the Invititational should go ahead tomorrow. Mills charter boats returned early today from out there due to bad conditions and I think tomorrow is likely to be worse.

Cheers,
Adam

This weather is conspiring to stop us fishing this comp that's the second one we've had to cancel. I hope it behaves itself next week and we can all get our boats wet.

Yep, definately

Fri, 2006-12-08 21:52

We should have a backup plan for next week, like a river comp with fewer categories etc, going to see what its like early on the river tomorrow.

GRRRRRRRR

I HATE MR WEATHERMAN! Went down the river at 5.30 and it was a little blowy at first, f***n freezing as well, but its dropped out and would be magic out there at the moment. Its still under 10 knots at Rotto on Seabreeze but I've got a feeling it will blow in hard around 11-11.30. There was a fair bit of southerly in it first up but swung more to the east as the morning went on. Got bugger all tailor too, even with slick in the water, NOT HAPPY JAN. I'm going back to bed coz I'm fuming at the forecast predicted as it certainly doesn't represent what its like out there at the moment. Next week its a get up, if your happy with the conditions then lets go. Forecasters just aren't reliable enough!

Curse you wind gods...that's not fair!!!

Sat, 2006-12-09 08:21

Woke up at 5-30am not a breath of air moving, thought I was dreaming and went back to sleep. Woke again at 6-30 a pufteenth of breeze and still thought I must be dreaming. Just checked seabreeze.com and it looks like it would have been great out there. If the wind comes in though, I think it will come with a rush and that is never a pleasant experience if you are a long way offshore.

Its not like its the first time that the weather has changed dramatically from the forecast, so its not alltogether unexpected. Frustrating though!!!

Damn Straight

Sat, 2006-12-09 08:31

Frustrated only just begins to explain it.

Saturday: S/SE winds 15/20 knots easing to SE 10/15 knots early morning. Winds shifting SW'ly 15/20 knots late morning and increasing to S/SW 20/30 knots during the afternoon and evening.

15/20 and 10/15 AS IF!!!!!! More like 8-13 dropping overnight to 5-10 easterly with occasional gusts to 8-13, early seabreeze around midday! I should leave MR Weatherman alone, he does try his best, but god damn that hurts! I'd better be nice or I may get struck by a thunderbolt next Sunday for the comp.

I think Mandurah weather prediction was right for everywhere

Sat, 2006-12-09 09:00

Winds: ESE 5 to 7 knots
Seas: SW 9 feet at 10 sec.
Afternoon
Breezy whitecapping conditions with moderate choppy seas. Moderate long period swell.
Winds: SW 11 to 14 knots
Seas: SW 10 feet at 11 sec

Yeah it seems Mr Weatherman

Sat, 2006-12-09 11:05

Yeah it seems Mr Weatherman has been stuffing up down there lately. Buoyweather is usually pretty spot on around Karratha, give or take a few knots, but it's never such a big difference. Maybe the weather up north is more predictable?

Next time Adam maybe you

Sat, 2006-12-09 13:43

Next time Adam maybe you shouldn't cancel it until the morning of the comp? Wake up early, see what the condition are like and then make a decision. People can check the site in the morning to see whether it has been cancelled or not.

Good call Jay

Definately what is going to happen next Sunday.

Out of interest. The sun comes up at 5.20, but not bright enough to see cray pots until about 5.30 or just after. So for next week try and get to the ramp about 5.15-5.20 for an early start.

I will get on the site at 4.30am on Sunday and post up what its like and weather its a goer. I've always been told the only way to be sure is to get up and check. Guess I really should have done that this morning so cant pass the buck too much, but still bloody disappointed that it was forecast double and a half what it really was.

Never know, the heat trough/unsettled weather forecast for Monday/Tuesday might arrive early. Might be oily calm.:)

Just play it cool, plan a xmas shopping outing with the missus. As soon as you've got something else planned, the weather will come good(make sure you factor in a good weather clause with the missus).:0
